hello from TINA

Hello, and a warm welcome.

I am Tina, and I am a experienced Humanistic Integrative Counsellor/psychotherapist.

I work holistically, integrating mind–body-spirit intelligence within and focusing on you as a whole person. I have a deep belief that we all have divine wisdom within us, when we tap into, it can guide us towards healing, self-love, empowerment, peace, and a more fulfilling life.

I warmly welcome a wide range of clients. As each person is different, with a unique perspective on life, my practice is constantly evolving, working collaboratively, in co-creative therapeutic relationship, with a strong focus on trust, respect and compassion. I know that life can be tough with many challenges. As a part of my training, I had to go through my own healing journey, facing my wounded childhood, family struggles, ancestors’ patterns to find my sovereignty, confidence, and authenticity. In the process, I learnt how important it is to be self-aware and to maintain positive attitude with compassion and kindness.

Since 2011, I have been supporting many adults and teenagers with variety of issues including stress, anxiety, depression, anger, low self-esteem, family issues, relationship issues, separation, coping with life changes, attachment issues, childhood trauma, abuse, dissociation, and helping them to identify their needs, apply healthy boundaries, self-care, emotional regulation, and positive self-regard and more.

I create a nonjudgmental safe space where you can bring any distress, challenges, dilemmas, fears, limited patterns/beliefs that no longer serve you and that hold you back in life. In your own pace, we can explore their origin, and consider new ways of thinking, feeling, and relating with these obstacles you are facing.

‘Know-thyself’, is a pivotal foundation for our personal growth and empowerment. I am particularly passionate about inner child work, healing and integrating those wounded parts of self that have been shut down at some point in life and finding your authentic self.

Sometimes to access our hidden feelings, we need to go beyond words into our subconscious experiencing. I may offer mindfulness-based techniques where appropriate, using intuition, immediacy (power of now), imagery, bringing attention to your body sensations, to support all aspects of the therapeutic process.

My passion as a therapist is to help facilitate your own healing process, and to provide you with tools you can use in daily life to continue that journey. My endeavour is to foster your emotional health, promote self-awareness, enhance your confidence and invite into your life more harmony and balance.

As life is ever changing, the journey of self-discovery never truly ends. However, with the right support and guidance we can navigate our life more gracefully.

hello from LOUISE

Hello, thank you for taking your time to be here.

I know that life can be difficult and distressing at times and that being human – perhaps especially in today’s world – can seem complex and complicated. At times we may experience loneliness, pain, anxiety, trauma, despair, isolation or loss. Sometimes we suffer and cannot explain or reason why.

When we seek therapy, it is important to find someone with whom we can trust our thoughts, feelings and emotions; someone who is committed to working with compassion and kindness to try to understand us, and all our interconnected parts. If we worked together, I would hope to be this person for you. I offer a warm, open, and respectful welcome as someone who is deeply curious about people, their stories, and their present, past and future experiences. I would love to work alongside you to help you feel a greater sense of ease in your mind, in your body and in the world.

As someone who has lived, and worked, in many different countries, I am used to meeting new people and wondering about cultural influences, race, identity, and belonging. I embrace difference and uniqueness and value the healing power of the therapeutic relationship and the ways in which change happens, and shifts occur, when we are listened to, and feel seen, safe and understood.

Throughout my training in humanistic counselling and psychotherapy, my clinical practice was with the NHS within the Staff Psychological Support Services. Alongside private practice, I continue to work for the NHS University Hospitals Sussex in both a counselling and teaching role. Before training as a counsellor, I worked as a primary school teacher and have significant experience of building relationships with people of all ages and facilitating growth. I am also a qualified yoga teacher and often weave the principles of yogic philosophy, mindfulness and somatic experience into my counselling practice.

If you would like to see if we might be a good fit, please get in touch via email and we can arrange a 15-minute call – without charge. Hopefully I can begin to understand your needs and you can ask any questions you might have.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Free initial telephone consultation - 20 minutes.

hello from COLETTE

We can all have times when life is difficult, confusing, painful. We can feel stuck, or rushed, or lost, perhaps – overwhelmed by current challenges or past struggles. Counselling can provide a point of pause – an opportunity to reflect, to make better sense of deeply-felt personal experiencing, and to connect with what it means to be you.

As a humanistic psychotherapeutic counsellor, I feel strongly that everyone has worth – valuing you as an individual, and your lived experiences as unique. I offer a collaborative approach to therapy – two human beings working together – and practise relationally, creatively, and holistically to support the meaningful change you seek.

Coming from a background in accessible education, advocacy, and communications, I draw on my breadth and depth of professional and personal experience within diverse communities – and feel passionately that the therapeutic space allows for all voices, all stories to be heard. I see it as my position not to advise or to find ‘quick fixes’; rather, I aim to encourage an affirming, inclusive, non-judgemental space – inviting you to bring whatever thoughts, feelings, and emotions might arise in the moment, hopeful that every part of you can feel welcome and accepted. Building on a shared sense of trust and safety, we can work together, and at your pace, to carefully explore the ways you relate to yourself, to others and to the wider world – as you consider what is still useful, and what no longer serves you.

Whilst there are aspects of our lives that we cannot change, I believe that with fresh insight and greater self-awareness there is the possibility of moving forwards with a renewed sense of agency, freedom and fulfilment.

Throughout this process, my intention is to be alongside you with kindness, curiosity, and heartfelt compassion.

I appreciate how choosing your therapist is an important and deeply-personal decision. Hoping to help, I offer an initial 20-minute telephone consultation, without charge: an opportunity for us to connect – for me to hear what is bringing you to counselling right now, for you to ask any questions, and for us both to get a sense of how we might work together going forward.

If you would like to book an introductory call, do please get in touch via email so we can arrange a suitable time to discuss your needs.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Maté jarai

Humanistic and Person-Centred Counsellor. Creative Writing Therapist.

PhD Creative Writing, Diploma in Humanistic Counselling. MBACP.

Cost: £60.00 per session

Free initial 20 minute consultation online.

Specialisms:

Anxiety disorders, ADHD, depression, existential issues, low self-confidence and self-esteem, men's issues, relationship problems, family issues.

Works With: Individuals 15+

hello from Maté

Hi there and a warm welcome. My name is Maté.

I know that life can sometimes feel overwhelming—whether you’re carrying the weight of past experiences, going through a difficult change, or simply wanting to gain a better understanding of yourself, your thoughts, and your behaviours. Whatever has brought you here, counselling can offer a space to pause, reflect, and begin to make sense of what you’re going through.

I’m a Humanistic Counsellor, specialising in person-centred therapy. In this approach, you—the client—lead the way, because you are the expert on your own experience. We’ll work in the ‘here and now’, meaning each session is your space to bring whatever is on your mind, and together we’ll explore it from there, at your own pace.

Person-centred therapy is grounded in three core conditions: empathy, congruence, and unconditional positive regard. This means I aim to deeply understand your perspective, without judgement, and to meet you with honesty, authenticity, and respect.

Every client is unique, with their own way of experiencing the world. While my foundation is person-centred, I also draw from other humanistic approaches—such as Transactional Analysis and Gestalt—working with life scripts and, when appropriate, using creative methods, such as creative writing. I’m a huge believer in the power of creativity in opening up fresh perspectives on feelings and experiences that are sometimes hard to reach through talking alone. But of course, I understand this is not for everyone. All the work we’ll do in the therapy room is through a client-centred lens, tailored to your specific, induvial needs.

My own path into counselling began through writing. For many years, I worked as a writer and teacher, fascinated by the ways stories can help us make sense of who we are. Over time, I realised that what I was most drawn to was not just the stories themselves, but the people behind them—their journeys, hopes, and inner worlds. This is what led me to a career as a counsellor, and I now feel privileged to sit alongside people as they ride their own waves of change and make sense of their own journeys, and get to know their deepest most authentic selves.

To add little more about myself, I was born in Budapest but moved to the UK as a child with my family. I trained as a counsellor in the Brighton area, at Haulm and Broadway Counselling, and I have experience working with both adults and young people. I have a great deal of experience in working with young men in their twenties and thirties, helping them to navigate what can be a particularly challenging time in life. Alongside my private practice, I continue to work with The Bower Tree, a charity offering low-cost counselling in the Sussex area.

I’m a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), which means I work to high professional and ethical standards so that you can feel safe and supported in our sessions. I also believe that learning and growth never really stop—both for myself and for the people I work with. It’s a real privilege for me to walk alongside clients as they heal, grow, and reconnect with their sense of self.

I work both in-person and online. I really do believe in the benefits of both, so it’s really up to you, the client, to decide what might work best for you.

I know that choosing a counsellor can feel like a leap into the unknown, so to make that step easier, I offer a free 20-minute online consultation. This gives us a chance to meet and see if working together feels like the right fit.

If you’d like to take that next step, I’d be glad to hear from you.

hello from lisa w.

Hi, I am Lisa, a BACP-registered humanistic counsellor based in Hove. In essence, counselling provides the opportunity to slow down and connect with yourself more fully, in the presence of another. I aim to offer a safe, compassionate space in which you can feel deeply listened to, respected, and understood. For me, the therapeutic relationship is pivotal in supporting you to develop greater self-awareness and self-acceptance which can be deeply healing and transformative. Together, we can get to know how it feels to be you in the world and reflect on your patterns of feeling, relating, and thinking, both helpful and unhelpful ones.

I can help you navigate difficult feelings and thoughts as they arise, bringing hope, empathy, and curiosity to our work. With my guidance and gentle challenge, you will become more acquainted with any fears that may be getting in the way of making choices that feel authentic and meaningful to you. We will also draw upon your passions, dreams, and values as we get to know all parts of you. As the therapeutic process unfolds, trust in yourself and belief in your unique potential can really flourish, including your capacity to cope with difficult and painful experiences that will inevitably arise in the future.

My professional background is in Speech & Language Therapy for adults. Having 15 years of clinical experience across a variety of settings, in particular NHS hospitals, continues to inform my psychotherapeutic work. I am committed to ongoing professional development and ensuring that I resource myself well. I feel passionate about working with a diverse range of presenting challenges and have a strong interest in sexuality.

I offer a free initial telephone consultation (15-20 mins) to help us decide whether we might be a good fit for one another. I am keen to understand what prompted you to get in touch now, what you hope to gain from counselling, and will try to answer any questions you may have.

hello froM TONI

A warm hello to you. I know that it can be tricky to find the support you need but you’re here now, and I welcome you.

It can be really hard to live in this world sometimes. You may feel overwhelmed, like you don’t belong, or feel stuck for example. Or perhaps something has happened in your life that you don’t know how to manage alone such as a bereavement, relationship betrayal or job loss. The world is confusing for many, and it may be difficult to cope with life’s absurdities. It’s normal to feel lost and scared sometimes, but you shouldn’t have to survive on your own. I hope that you find the help that you’re looking for.

My name is Toni (she/her) and I am an accredited counselling therapist. I have experience of being both a therapist and a client. Because of this I know how important it is to find the “right fit”: a person who you feel gets you, and who you can build enough trust with to bring your whole self. I welcome all of you – the parts you love and the parts that might feel a little harder to like! I am here with you in the painful thoughts and feelings as well as the laughter and celebration.

I aim to offer you a compassionate, respectful and exploratory relationship, centred in trauma-informed practice and kindness. I believe that no two people are the same. How we feel about ourselves and how we are treated in the world is influenced by many aspects of our identity including race, culture, sexuality, class, gender, neurodivergence and health status to name a few. I am curious to know you, and to support you to find ways to feel more comfortable in the world, in yourself and in your body.

Together I hope we can create enough safety for you to take the courageous steps towards the life you want.

I look forward to meeting you,

Toni

hello froM ANNI

Whether you are looking for support with specific life experiences, would like to talk through complex, difficult or confusing feelings, or just need somewhere to let everything out and be yourself, hello and welcome… my name is Anni and I am here to support you.

My counselling approach is warm and genuine and will focus on you as an individual with your own unique circumstances. My practice is centred on fostering self-awareness, self-compassion and personal growth where we can work together to help you better understand, make meaning of, and work through any problems you may have.

I believe that life’s uncertainties, difficulties and profound questions are integral to us all as human beings, and if useful to you, I can support you in exploring any themes of meaning, purpose, identity or mortality that you have. Deeper self-understanding may help you manage anxiety, depression and stress, reconnect with purpose and self-worth, or support emotional healing from loss, grief or trauma. It may also help you to make more meaningful choices about how best to live your life.

My practice draws from several models of humanistic therapy, such as person-centred, gestalt and existential, and I will tailor these approaches to meet your needs.

Alongside my private practice, I counsel for the NHS where I support cancer patients and their families facing the difficulties of diagnosis and treatment. I have also worked for many years in nursery and primary school settings where I have provided practical, emotional and counselling support to children and young people. This work has shown me the importance of an open, caring and non-judgmental relationship in supporting my clients to navigate their unique paths with clarity and courage, and to embrace both their struggles and their strengths.

If you’re seeking a compassionate and professional guide to support you through a difficult time, do reach out to arrange an initial session, where we can explore together how I can best support you.

hello froM DARREN

Hello, I’m Darren Flint – a Counsellor working in Brighton & Hove.

I’m proud to have gained my Counselling qualifications through the Wealden Institute’s renowned Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling.

‘Humanistic’ means I that I value your unique human potential, putting your own needs at the heart of the therapy we do. ‘Integrative’ means that I am trained in a range of complimentary techniques, and can draw on these to best meet your own particular circumstances.

I specialise in working with gender and sexual diversity, particularly with younger clients who identify as Trans and Non-Binary. However, I have a wealth of experience working with other gender- and sexual identities including Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual clients of all ages and from all backgrounds.

Clients don’t just come to talk about their gender or sexual identity – you’re welcome to bring whatever it is you want to talk about. On my website, I invite you to ask yourself ‘what are your counselling intentions’ – what is it you seek through counselling? I’ll be here to help you on your journey.

I’m keen to offer my clients a choice of creative therapy techniques to use in the counselling room. These won’t suit everyone, but for some people a creative activity can spark the imagination and help the energy flow when words might fail us. Some of the techniques I offer include: drawing and painting, sandtray, tarot and animal cards, dream interviews. If you’d like to know more, please ask me (or see my website for details).

As well as offering my private practice at the Wilbury Clinic, I also work as a Counsellor and Counselling Administrator for a respected LGBTQ mental health charity. It’s important to me to offer therapy to clients who might not otherwise be able to afford it – which is why I also offer some Concession rates (see below). I also offer telephone counselling, and online sessions.

I am a Registered Member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), so you can be sure that I work to the highest professional standards.

I understand how important it is to feel a good connection with your therapist. That’s why I offer a free informal consultation, to help decide if you want to work with me. This can happen in person, or over the phone.
