MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy (Middlesex University).   Clinical Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy (Metanoia Institute).

Integrative Psychotherapist

Specialisms: Depression, low mood, anxiety, stress, loss, trauma, loss of purpose and meaning in life, personal development and life-inquriy.

Therapeutic Approach: Integrative.  I draw mainly upon the psychodynamic, TA, relational psychoanalytic, humanistic and existential traditions as well as ideas from contemporary neuroscience, trauma theory, arts, body or mindfulness-based practices.

I recognize that sometimes life can feel challenging and I offer a warm, calm, non-judgmental space for short and longer-term counselling and psychotherapy.

I have master’s degree in Integrative Psychotherapy from Middlesex University and am a member of both the UKCP and BACP. Formerly, I was a teacher and arts specialist, combining during the last 25 years, many professional roles within the public sector. I am a keen amateur musician with many varied interests in the arts, health and wellbeing.

During my five-year psychotherapy training, I worked with people from many backgrounds, facing different challenges.  I am a culturally aware LGBTQI+ affirmative practitioner, with a style which is open, natural sensitive, and respectful.

If you wish to look at a certain problem, you are welcome to come for a shorter-term.  If you are feeling the need to explore something more deeply, I will work with you at your own pace to get to the heart of things. Typically, I work with people whose unhappiness or dissatisfaction stems from a sadness, despair, trauma, lack of meaning, or perhaps a life which feels confusing, difficult, overwhelming.

As an Integrative Psychotherapist, I tailor my approach creatively, so that you can get what you most need. Sometimes this means may involve drawing upon psychodynamic traditions to understand more about the past.  As a trauma-informed practitioner, I may work creatively to help balance the nervous system. I also draw upon compassion-based CBT or mindfulness practices.

As a humanistic practitioner however, I believe most strongly that what will work best is what emerges collaboratively, as you discover the ideas, perspectives, solutions, ways of being in yourself which resonate for you. What you would like to work on is discussed in our first two sessions and we review this regularly to make sure things feel on track.
