I am a Counsellor and Supervisor working with individuals and couples presenting with a wide range of issues. I am committed to providing counselling in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment for you to speak freely about the issues that are of most concern to you, in a way that is sometimes not possible with friends or family.
I have been working in the field of addictions (drugs, alcohol, gambling) for several years and I have considerable experience in working with sexual abuse, loss and bereavement. I also have large experience in working with illness and disability, chronic pain, physical impairment and depression.
As well as practicing privately at the Wilbury Clinic, I also work as a Counsellor at Mankind, a counselling service for male victims of sexual abuse and at Breakeven, a counselling service for anyone affected by problem gambling. I am also a clinical supervisor for Cruse Bereavement Care and a Frontline Services Adviser for GamCare, the leading national provider of support for problem gambling. For several years I worked with people with Multiple Sclerosis, ME and other neurological conditions at The Sussex Multiple Sclerosis Centre. In the past I was also a counsellor for CRI, a drugs and alcohol counselling service and a clinical supervisor for BHT Threshold Women’s Services.
My work reflects the principles of a Humanistic / Person-Centred approach, that the individual is a person of worth and value, with vast resources and potential for growth, change, and self-determination.
I am bilingual and offer counselling sessions in Portuguese.
