I am a Counselling Psychologist offering a face to face therapy service for adults, couples and young people. If you feel unable to cope with the challenges you face in your life, then therapy can help. In my practice, I aim to provide a safe and confidential environment, supporting my clients in exploring and working through their concerns. I have over 15 years of experience as a therapist in the public and private sector, helping clients struggling with depression, anxiety, phobias, trauma, relational difficulties, bereavement, domestic violence, abuse and discrimination. I have a special interest in working with minority groups and people who have experienced any form of discrimination or rejection. Society can be a marginalizing and wounding place, where opportunities and privileges are unequally distributed. For this reason, I believe in working in a socially responsible way by supporting those who are less privileged. In addition to individual counselling, I also specialize in couple therapy and relationship related issues, such as sexual difficulties/health, ineffective communication, infidelity, control/power issues and parental guidance. I am also trained to and work closely with LGBT clients, providing support for those questioning or affirming their gender and sexuality.
Regardless of the reason that brings you to it, counselling can offer an opportunity for growth and personal development, bringing a sense of clarity and a deeper understanding of your resources and strengths, as well as your capacity to adapt to adverse circumstances.
My approach in therapy is Integrative, which refers to the inclusion of different perspectives in psychotherapy into a flexible and coherent approach, that will suit your needs and personal reality. Therapy will always be adapted to your needs and will be a process where you, as a client, build a space and rhythm of your own.
I offer sessions in English and Portuguese.
